During his tenure at La Sierra University in Southern California, Brent competed in fishing tournaments, using his winnings as disposable income while completing his degree. After graduating with a Bachelor’s degree, he made a plan: study for his contractor’s license, set his own schedule and begin fishing the national circuit. Before he knew it, Brent was fishing professionally and brought home a national title in the FLW National Circuit in 2006, winning one national tournament prior.
Brent has since competitively fished for bass in nearly all fifty of the United States, in lakes and rivers of every type, constantly adapting to new environments and re-developing his strategy, all the while trusting Braven to bring just the right tunes at just the right time. Fishing involves constant looking and casting, evaluating where the bass may be, taking into consideration the season, water temperature and depth.
Discussing his choice to use a slow lure over a fast lure Brent pontificates, “Bass are like cats. When you put something in front of a cat, they have time to study it and get over it. It doesn’t give them time to study it, so they just pounce. That’s what bass do”.
